Hashboard not detected: where to start
A starter checklist for when a miner reports a missing hashboard: what to check before opening the machine or reaching for the soldering iron.
Outline. Replace it with your own steps and check them against the miner model’s documentation.
A miner that shows fewer hashboards than it should is one of the most common faults. Most of the time the cause is simple, so work from the easy checks to the hard ones.
Check the basics first
- Read the miner’s log or status page and note which board is missing and what the error says
- Power the miner off, unplug it, and reseat the data and power cables on that board
- Swap the missing board into another slot to see if the fault follows the board or the slot
Then look at the board
- Look for burnt marks, loose connectors or damaged cables
- Check that the heatsinks are seated and the thermal paste is intact
Know when to stop
If the fault follows the board and nothing is visibly damaged, deeper work needs proper test equipment. Write down what you found before you go further.
Safety first: unplug the miner and let it cool before opening it, and never open a power supply unless you are trained to. Repairing a miner may void its warranty.
